Mahwash Rehman is an international freelance photographer, business professional and an activist. She had her first coffee table book published in August 2016, titled, 'Women in Green and Beyond' - a powerful visual narrative and a first of its kind book on Pakistan's Women's Cricket Team, the aim of which was to contribute to the global gender conversation and initiate public discourse and reflections on women's empowerment in Pakistan and beyond.
Rehman is an MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences graduating in 2002, and has since been a globetrotter. It was during her stay in Karachi that she took up photography professionally after earning PGD in Photography from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2011. To broaden her artistic vision, she took Master classes with world-renowned photographers including Henry Horenstein and Susan Burnstine.
She was Empower Women (UN Women) Global Champion For Change 2016-2017 and led the campaign #BreakTheGlass with the aim to help women break all invisible barriers to economically empower themselves.
Her work has also been compiled in the book titled ‘Women Under Siege’ (2012), published by Voices Breaking Boundaries, an arts-activist NGO, based in Houston, TX.
Self-exploration and patriotism being her driving force, Mahwash also expresses her thoughts through poetry.
Her diverse portfolio ranges from photojournalism to music photography, fashion/ramp, BTS, portraiture, kids and conceptual work. She is published in the U.S., U.A.E., India and Pakistan.
